Classic Snooker Table

A classic snooker table is a specialized billiards table used for playing snooker, a cue sport that originated in the late 19th century. Snooker is primarily played in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries, and it has gained popularity worldwide over the years.

The standard dimensions of a classic snooker table are larger than those of a regular pool table. The playing surface of a snooker table measures 11 feet 8.5 inches (3569 mm) in length and 5 feet 10 inches (1778 mm) in width. The bed of the table is usually made of slate, covered with a high-quality cloth that provides a smooth playing surface.

A classic snooker table is equipped with six pockets, one at each corner and two in the middle of the long side rails. The pockets are usually made of leather or synthetic materials and are designed to be tight, making it more challenging to pocket the balls.

The table is divided into six colored regions, known as "baulks" and "docks," and a rectangular area known as the "baize." The baize is the primary playing area where the snooker balls are positioned at the beginning of each frame.

In terms of equipment, snooker is played with 22 balls, including 15 red balls, which are worth one point each, and six colored balls: yellow (2 points), green (3 points), brown (4 points), blue (5 points), pink (6 points), and black (7 points). The players use cues to strike the balls, aiming to pocket them in the designated pockets and score points.

Classic snooker tables are often found in dedicated snooker halls, clubs, or professional tournament venues. They are larger and provide a unique playing experience compared to regular pool tables. The game of snooker requires skill, strategy, and precision, making it a popular choice among serious cue sports enthusiasts.
